Centre DSM was founded in1957, by MR.Mithoo Hasham Jamal, as a small
outlet in Mwanza, selling locally manufactured Beds, Cupboards, office
table and other Furniture. This small enterprise has now grown into
Tanzania’s leading manufacturer and retailer and of home and office
furniture with eighteen locations to serve their customers nationwide.
Furniture
Centre manufactures home and office furniture, both panel based
products for use and solid wood products for home furnishings. It is
committed to achieving the highest standard of furniture making, combing
the best tradition of craftsmanship and modern technology.
Their
furniture is created from natural solid hardwoods, conceived to offer
services, beauty and lifetime of enjoyment for generations to come.
Furniture
Centre growth since its inception has been remarkable expanding from
one branch initially to eighteen across the nation. Their factory and
retail outlets employ 400 workers from Sales people,office personnel and
trade workers to carpenters. A lager part of their success is the huge
range of quality products that Furniture Centre has to offer. They
combine and carry merchandise of their retail partners resulting in
thousands of items to choose from and a well balance selection of prices
and styles.
Furniture Centre (DSM) LTD has been honored a Super Brand award as Tanzania Strongest Consumers brand.
The
award was presented by the Project Director of Super Brands East Africa
and handing over ceremony at the Hyatt Regence Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
The
firm achieved the status following a strict selection process by the
Super brands Council and Consumer from across East Africa.
Whether
it is through monetary gifts, in kind donation or corporate
sponsorships, Furniture Centre has always come through in their efforts
to promote human welfare and philanthropy.
Tanzania suffers from a critical shortage of both teaches, school, forcing teachers to hold their classes outdoors.
With
the limited number of teachers, Class size can exceed 75students, with
that many children in classroom, desks are often in short supply
resulting in four or five children sharing a four foot bench or in some
cases kids don’t even have a desk and sit on the floor. Every
year,Furniture Centre opens their heart to donate to schools all across
Tanzania.
Furniture
Centre is a proud supporter of the Tanzania Albinism Society (TAS), a
nonprofit Organization that aims to protect and empower people with
Albinism in Tanzania.
The
discrimination of people with Albinism is a major concern in our Nation
and Furniture Centre takes this issue very seriously. Furniture Centre
is funding TAS with their aims and Project to make this Country a safer
place for all Tanzanians. The impact TAS will have on the lives of
Tanzania and people with Albinism across the globe is momentous and is a
step forward for equality in our World.
